COVID-19 Tests

While COVID-19 vaccinations and preventive measures have curved the infection rates significantly, the coronavirus is still around.

If you are displaying symptoms or have been in close proximity to someone who has recently tested positive for Covid-19, it is your responsibility to get tested to prevent the spread of the virus.

Symptoms of COVID-19

The coronavirus can affect people in different ways. Symptoms can range from common, uncommon and severe.

Most common symptoms:

  • fever
  • cough
  • tiredness
  • loss of taste or smell

Less common symptoms:

  • sore throat
  • headache
  • aches and pains
  • diarrhoea
  • a rash on the skin, or discolouration of fingers or toes
  • red or irritated eyes

Serious symptoms:

  • difficulty breathing or shortness of breath
  • loss of speech or mobility, or confusion
  • chest pain

How is a COVID-19 test performed?

To test for coronavirus, a nasopharyngeal swab needs to be done. First, a cotton swab will be inserted into your nostrils and rotated for about 15 seconds. You may feel some discomfort, but it should not hurt. The swab will then be sent to the lab for testing, upon which you will receive your results between 24 - 48 hours.
